On a rise north of Tianeti survive the ruins of an 11th-century architectural monument, the Bodoji palace. It belonged to King Kvirike III of Kakheti. During the struggle for the unification of Georgia, Bagrat IV captured the eristavis of Kakheti-Hereti, crossed into Tianeti and burned the hall of Bodoji. Today the ruins of a tower and a church remain.
