It belongs to the type of two-nave churches, with an open portico on the south; the western annex is of a later period. It is built of well-dressed reddish-violet tuff-andesite blocks and faced inside with large dressed stones. The main nave, ending in a deep apse, is tall and wide, the northern one low and narrow; they are linked by arches resting on two piers. The church was plastered, and traces of painting can be seen. Both naves are covered by a single gabled roof. The exterior is richly adorned with carved ornament, and above the entrance is a stylized Asomtavruli inscription.
