The fortress is not built as high as others (20–25 m above the plain), but the spur was so chosen that from it a great distance can be surveyed to the south. As for the west and east, mountains stand on those sides and the horizon is almost closed. Evidently this position suited its builder — a short valley with a fortress set to lock it. The fortress is an irregular oval in plan (20.1 × 14.5 m). It consists of an enclosure wall, a tower, a church, and a ditch running around the fortress — without which, in that era, the kings of Egrisi could not conceive of a fortress, whether great or small.
