Tsikhisdziri fortress consists of a citadel on the mountain crest and a lower courtyard spread over its eastern slope. It is built of rubble stone and badly damaged: the northern and northeastern sides are destroyed. The western part is comparatively well preserved (the citadel, which bears traces of repeated remodeling). The entrance is from the south, the gate set in the south wall of the rectangular courtyard, with a platform before it.
