Jumati monastery was an important center of church life and learning. Its abbot Nikoloz (15th–16th centuries) traveled to Klarjeti and brought back five old manuscripts: a Gospel (known today as the Adishi Gospels), a homiliary (mravaltavi), a canon book, a book of the Fathers, and a book of questions and answers. Of these, the Gospel, the canon book and the book of the Fathers came from the Shatberdi monastery.
