A lake with an outflow on the Odishi-Guria lowland, near the city of Poti, in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. Surface area 18.2 km², basin area 547 km², maximum depth 3.2 m, average depth 2.6 m, volume 52 million m³. It lies 0.3 m below sea level and is fed by rainwater and tributaries. The Pichori River flows into the lake and the Kaparchina flows out. Its level is high in spring, summer and autumn and low in winter. The water is warm in July–August (25.1°C) and cold in January (5.2°C); strong winds often produce homothermy, and in cold winters the lake stiffens and shore ice forms.
