Located in Javakheti, 1,996 m above sea level. Surface area 4.8 km², greatest depth 2.3 m, average depth 1.6 m, volume 7.7 million m³. The lake is of tectonic origin and trapezoidal in shape. It is fed by groundwater, rain and snow. Its level peaks in May and is lowest in September. The Paravani River flows out of the lake. In July the surface water temperature is 14.4°C; in winter it freezes for 4.5 months. The village of Saghamo lies by the lake.
