The St. George's church is dated in the scholarly literature to the 11th century. Archaeological excavations in 1977–81 uncovered, on the crest of the hill and its southeastern slope, two chambers, twelve stone-box graves and two pit burials, dating from the first half of the first millennium BC and from the early, developed and late feudal periods.
