A village in Akhmeta municipality on the right bank of the Pirikiti Alazani River, the center of its community (villages: Dano, Dartlo, Dochu, Kumelaurta, Shenako, Shtrolta, Khakhabo, Khiso). It lies 1,880 meters above sea level, 90 kilometers from Akhmeta, and is the administrative center of the Tusheti region. The village sits between the Greater Caucasus and Pirikita ranges. For lack of roads it is cut off from the rest of Georgia for half the year.
