Likani is a medieval monastery complex 7 km from Borjomi, in the valley of the Akhoebistskali River. The ruins of the Church of the Mother of God survive. The church's main part is a nave ending in an apse. Later, in the 16th century, a bell tower was set against the church, almost entirely covering the west wall. The bell tower's massive-walled lower story, built of large unworked boulders and cube-shaped, forms the entrance to the church. A roll-molded profile runs around the outside of the parapet-enclosed second story, reached by a rough stone stair built against it. The upper part of the bell tower — namely the dressed-stone columns that carried its roof — is destroyed.
