Qvemo Bolnisi Vanati Church

Church Kvemo Kartli, Bolnisi district

Church Church

The three-church basilica of Vanati lies in the Bolnisi district, between the villages of Kvemo Bolnisi and Khatissopeli. It is a monument of 5th–6th-century Georgian architecture, now badly ruined. It consists of three simple elongated halls; only the apses are set apart on the east, with no trace of any other division or additional chamber. The central church has a projecting apse and two entrances from the south. In plan, size, proportions and building material it resembles the three-church basilica of Kvemo Bolnisi, and together with it is one of the early examples of the development of this original type of Georgian architecture.
