Draneti is the old name of the village of Alekseyevka. It lies in eastern Georgia, in the Tetritskaro district of the Kvemo Kartli region, on the right side of the Aslanka River (its old Georgian name was Torne), 1,180 m above sea level, 13 km from the town of Tetritskaro. About 1 km southwest of the present village of Alekseyevka, on the right bank of the Aslanka (so renamed by Russians who settled here in the 19th century), that is, of the Torne ravine, lies the abandoned village of Draneti. Here stands the church of Sts. Kvirike and Ivlita. Its first scholarly publication and the identification and localization of the Draneti village site were made by the Kvemo Kartli historical-archaeological expedition (1940s–50s, led by N. Berdzenishvili). In the census of 1701–1711 the village is recorded as "Draneti", in that of 1721 as "Drianeti"; in Vakhushti's geography too the village bears the name "Draneti". The church's dedication had been lost, and in the scholarly literature it was known as the Draneti or Alekseyevka-Draneti church. Archaeological work established that the church was built in the name of Sts. Kvirike and Ivlita. Archaeological and restoration-design works were carried out on the church (led by Nino Nozadze).
