The house museum was built in the early 19th century. The writer and playwright Giorgi Eristavi (1811–1864) was born and periodically lived in this house, which later belonged to his son, the writer Davit Eristavi (1847–1890). The house museum opened here in October 1958. It has since been remodeled and its appearance altered.
