The Vazha-Pshavela house museum was founded in 1961. In 1976 repair works were carried out by the special scientific restoration association (led by T. Abramishvili): Pavle's house was restored, the roof repaired and more. In 1986 the barn-byre, the water mill and the spring were restored. In 1987, for the 125th anniversary of the writer's birth, the museum's exhibition building was erected, with four exhibition halls and a repository (architects O. Litanishvili and A. Guruli). Before the museum entrance was placed a bronze sculpture of Vazha-Pshavela — a large head (5 m high) set on a pedestal.
