The churches were built in the 9th century. According to the monastery's superior, Father Grigol, in 1924 the communists blew up the Church of the Mother of God and it ceased to function. The restoration of the Dedaghvtisa church was completed in 2006, and services have resumed since then. It should be noted that the restoration of St. George's church is still under way. At first a monastery for monks operated here, later a convent.
