The Church of the Mother of God of Kareli is a hall church (15.7 × 9 m) built of cobblestone and brick. It has two entrances, on the south and west, rectangular inside and out and topped with architraves. On the axis of the deep semicircular apse is an arched window flanked by wide arched niches, with a further small niche inside the northern one. The sanctuary is raised by two steps
