Lake Lake

A lake on the Keli volcanic plateau, in Akhalgori municipality, 2,914 m above sea level. Surface area 1.28 km², greatest depth 63 m, average depth 24.7 m, volume 31.6 million m³. Catchment area 7.8 km². The meridionally elongated basin was formed when a lava flow dammed a great glacial cirque, later reworked by the glacier. The lake is fed by snow, groundwater and rain. Its level peaks in June and is lowest in February. The Ksani River flows out of the lake. It is ice-covered for 7–8 months. The water is fresh. There are no fish.
