Reservoir Reservoir

Gali reservoir is a reservoir in western Georgia on the Eristskali River, near the village of Rechkhi, built in 1969. Catchment area 166 thousand km², surface area 8.2 km², total volume 145 million m³, useful volume 110 million m³, average depth 17.7 m, greatest depth 42.3 m. It is fed mainly by the flow of the Eristskali and of the Enguri, which enters the reservoir through the pressure diversion tunnel of the Enguri hydroelectric station. The reservoir bed is covered with a thick layer of alluvium. The shores are gentle above and steep below, with landslide processes noted. The shoreline is clothed in scrub and secondary forest.
