Glacier Glacier

Here, at 1,800 m above sea level, the route crosses stony scree, with markers painted on the boulders. The peak of Chatini is visible; the Chalaadi glacier forms on its southern slopes. It should be noted that Chatini's north face, known in mountaineering literature as the Chatini Rhomb, is considered the most difficult climbing objective in the Caucasus — under the old Soviet classification some fifteen routes of the highest 5th and 6th categories were traced here.
