Castle/Tower Castle/Tower

Khuluti fortress is a fortified hall in Tetritskaro municipality, set in a narrow neck of the deep valley of the Khrami River. It was built in the first third of the 18th century by Kaplan Baratashvili-Orbelishvili. It consists of two parts, each incorporating one tower, with five more in the enclosure wall. Each tower was first of all residential and secondarily defensive. The northwestern tower is in function a tower-palace, divided through its full height by a wall fitted with steps: one side has 6 stories, the other 7. The top stories were meant for fighting, the rest for living. The whole fortress is built of local rock.
