Berbuki tower

Castle/Tower Shida Kartli, Gori district

Castle/Tower Castle/Tower

A tower on the southern edge of the village of Berbuki, Gori municipality, dating to the late feudal era. The tower is cylindrical (diameter 7.7 m), three stories high, built of cobblestone and square brick. It is damaged: the south wall of the first story, the upper walls of the second story and most of the third-story walls are destroyed. The entrance is at the second story, on the north. In the east wall of the first story is an arched fireplace of square brick, and on the northeast two double loopholes set in niches. A stair to the second story is built into the south wall; the story is plastered. In the north wall of the second story, on either side of the door, is one double niched loophole each, with similar loopholes in the south and east walls. This story too was plastered. The building is ringed by a band of flat stone laid in herringbone pattern.
