Sepieti is a three-nave basilica in the village of Sepieti, Abasha municipality. It is built of stone and brick, using both dressed and rubble stone. It is thought to have been built in the early Middle Ages, but repeated remodeling has robbed it of its original appearance. On the west a lower chamber is attached — a chapel or women's section. Both the church and the annex were painted in the late Middle Ages; the painting survives in fragments. Besides religious scenes there are portraits of historical figures, local feudal lords (Abram Ailadze; the patron of the painting, Zosime Koplatadze, bishop of Chkondidi; and others), whose names are recorded in the inscriptions. A column capital found here, adorned with crosses and an image of the sun (kept in the Martvili local history museum), must belong to an older building that stood on this site.
