The Georgian chronicles preserve no record of the building of the church at Gudaleti. Only a couple of historical documents note that in the 14th century the village belonged to Svetitskhoveli, and in the 18th century these lands were crown property. It is known that Giorgi Saakadze's descendants, the Tarkhnishvilis, were mouravis of Kavtiskhevi, and Gudaleti lay within their domain.
