The Mghvime church of the abandoned village of Zhinvali (8.4 × 4.6 m) stood on the northeastern edge of the village site and belonged to the 8th–9th centuries. It was built of stone of various sizes. The entrance was arranged in the western part of the south wall. On the east, the jambs and arch of the window cut on the axis of the slightly horseshoe-shaped apse, raised by two steps, were worked in dressed travertine. Beneath the window a cubic altar was built against the wall. Before the sanctuary stood a cube-shaped pedestal of rubble stone with a rectangular socket for a cross. A contemporary annex adjoined the church on the north, entered from the eastern part of the north wall. A second annex (completely destroyed) stood on the church's south side, added in the late Middle Ages.
