The walled fortress is square in plan (30 × 30 m), built of cobblestone. Several cylindrical towers stood at the corners of the wall; two were destroyed early on, and the southeastern one collapsed in the 1940s. The northwestern tower is comparatively well preserved. It has two stories and battlements, each story with its own entrance from the courtyard. The first-story walls have several windows angled upward; the second-story walls, besides windows, have single and double loopholes. The stories are covered with domed vaults.
