The Church of the Mother of God of Tkviavi is a hall church (10.3 × 6.5 m) built of cobblestone in irregular courses, with wine-colored dressed blocks also used. The building is damaged: the decorative arch of the north wall and the cornice have collapsed and the interior plaster has fallen away; late brick insertions can be seen in parts of the east wall. The church has two arched entrances: one on the west (now disused), the other in the western part of the south wall — a solid tympanum stone is set into its arch. On the apse axis is an arched window that narrows sharply from inside to out (obscured by later additions built into the apse).
