St. George's church of Pavnisi is a hall church (12.4 × 10.8 m) built of sandstone and rubble stone, with tuff also used. The entrance is in the south wall. On the apse axis is one window, with two rectangular niches at its sides; a fragment of the chancel screen survives in the sanctuary. The south wall has two windows. The hall's long walls are articulated by pilasters carrying the transverse arches; the pilasters have shelf-like capitals of simple profile. The walls are plastered, and two layers of painting can be distinguished, the lower contemporary with the church
