The Church of the Mother of God of Pkhvenisi is a hall church (8.1 × 5.3 m) built of cobblestone, with reddish rubble stone at the corners. The entrance is on the south. The semicircular apse has one window, the south wall two. On the long walls are pilasters carrying the transverse arch of the cylindrical vault. On the south facade, on a reddish stone set above the door, a budding cross is carved; a similar cross sits above the east facade window. The east window is ornamented on the facade side. On a reddish stone above the west window is a 10th-century Asomtavruli inscription: "Christ, glorify Beshken son of Stepanoz." The gabled roof is covered with fluted tile. On the roof stand a stone model of the church at the west and a ram's head carved from stone at the east.
