The St. John the Baptist church of Pkhvenisi is a hall church (8.9 × 5.4 m) built of cobble and rubble stone. The door, topped by an architrave, is on the south; arched windows face east, west and south. On either side of the window of the semicircular apse is a rectangular niche. On each long wall of the hall is a two-stepped pilaster carrying the transverse arch of the vaulted roof. On the north facade, above the window, a tall cross is carved; at the southern corner of the west facade, a rosette. The building is ringed by a tuff cornice and roofed with fluted tile.
