Tserovani Church of Kekhijvari

Church Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Mtsketa district

Church Church

The church is a hall church (9.04 × 8.11 m) built of carefully selected rubble and cobblestone; dressed stone is used at the structural points and light-greenish tuff for decoration. The church is badly damaged (the roof has fallen in, among other things). The apse is horseshoe-shaped. The triumphal arch rests on plain imposts of simple profile. In the apse is a tall, wide window, with similar windows in the north and south walls. Rectangular chambers are built against the church on the north and south. The northern annex (a sacristy; its vault has collapsed), which can also be entered from the church's hall, is short, while the southern one (its foundation survives) runs the church's full length. The east facade window is adorned with a head molding with horizontal returns.
