Castle/Tower Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Dusheti district

Castle/Tower Castle/Tower

In Dusheti still stands the fortified hall of Glakha Chiladze (Chilashvili), an official of Prince Vakhtang, called Milakhvriantkari after Chilashvili's office. According to the building inscription the fortified hall was built in 1800 — the last year of the kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti: "I, Glakha, devoted servant of Vakhtang Almaskhan, son of Erekle the Second, king of all Georgia — Babanashvili, milakhvari, mouravi of three districts and keeper of the Russian road — built this fortress and wall, and within it a house of God, and completed my own houses therein, that God might be glorified in it and my children and household protected by Him. Finished May 30, in the year of Christ 1800, chronicon 488" (the inscribed stone is now kept in the Georgian State Museum).
