According to the inscription on the south facade of the Bodorna Church of the Mother of God, a ruined church that stood on this spot was renewed in 1417 by Mitropane, son of the eristavi of the Aragvi, and the court steward Kaikubat Kobiashvili. Later, in the mid-16th–17th centuries, Kaikubat's son added a small chapel on the south side, which no longer exists. In 1912 the church was thoroughly repaired.
