Zonkari reservoir is a multi-purpose reservoir in eastern Georgia, in the valley of the Patara Liakhvi — a left tributary of the Didi Liakhvi — 1,209 m above sea level. It is elongated in form. Surface area 1.4 km², total volume 40.0 million m³, useful volume 39.0 million m³. The dam is 78 m high. According to specialists, if a hydroelectric station were built at the reservoir it could generate 8 megawatts of power. In 2009 a potential disaster was averted that would have flooded many nearby villages. The reservoir also hinders trout migration to the headwaters of the Patara Liakhvi. It is used for irrigation and land improvement, and as a source of drinking water for the region. On its shores lie the villages of Zemo Zonkari, Kvemo Zonkari and Atsriskhevi.
