The architectural monuments surviving in Karbi and its surroundings date mainly to the 16th–18th centuries, among them the Holy Trinity church. Sadly, little information exists about these monuments, even though Karbi itself appears in written sources from the 11th century. The likely period of construction of the Karbi Trinity church is given as the late Middle Ages, specifically the 16th–17th centuries, though later research has shown that the church belongs to earlier centuries.
