Mount Kazbek is a peak in Georgia, in Kazbegi municipality, on the Khokhi range. Its height is 5,047 m; it is of volcanic origin and rises beside the Georgian Military Road. Its slopes carry subalpine meadows, with eternal snow above. From it descend the glaciers Suatisi, Mna, Ortsveri, Devdoraki and others, with a total area of 135 km². The Tergi River rises from the Zilgakhokh glacier. The mountain has the form of a double cone whose base lies at 1,770 m.
