A Georgian Orthodox monastery in Telavi municipality, set in forest 7 km from Telavi. The monastery complex includes a 5th-century basilica, one of the notable examples of Christian architecture in Georgia, and a 7th-century domed church of the Mtskheta Jvari type, though smaller (the depth of the apses and bays is reduced, the drum of the dome is given greater prominence, and the squinch construction is clearly expressed).
