Erelaant Church

Church Kakheti, Akhmeta district

Church Church

Erelaant Sakdari is a monument of 5th–6th-century Georgian architecture, 4 km from Akhmeta on the right side of the Tianeti highway. It is built of cobblestone and travertine, the facades faced with limestone slabs. The church, of simple cruciform plan, has two additional apses in the east walls of the south and north arms; the square under the dome passes to the circle of the dome by means of squinches. The drum is octagonal with 4 windows. There is a single entrance from the south, and the decoration is simple. The interior was plastered and painted; the collapsed dome and the vault of the west arm have now been restored.
