Castle/Tower Castle/Tower

Slesa fortress (Moktsevis Tsikhe) is a High Middle Ages stronghold in Akhaltsikhe municipality, on the right bank of the Mtkvari and the left side of the Borjomi–Akhaltsikhe road. The fortress is built of stone and lime; the enclosure wall has crumbled, and only the southeastern side survives. Slesa fortress and the abandoned village of Slesa may have belonged to the "Slesari" family, mentioned among the nobles of the flock of the Catholicos of Samtskhe-Saatabago: "the Bumbulisdze with their burial grounds, monastery and court church belong to the Avalishvili and the Slesari."
