Church Church

St. George's church of Danakhvisi is a hall church built of rubble stone. The entrance — arched inside, topped by an architrave outside — is on the south. On the axis of the horseshoe apse is a window, arched inside and rectangular outside, flanked by a rectangular niche on either side. Another rectangular window is in the upper part of the south wall. An annex adjoins the church along the full length of its south side; traces of a vaulted roof survive in its western part. The annex's entrance (only the lower parts survive) is on the south, directly opposite the church's entrance. The church has a small artificial terrace on the south and east. An oval buttress is built against the west facade to strengthen the wall. The church is now roofed with tile and its walls are roughly plastered.
