On the tympanum of the west door of the small-domed church of Didi Ateni is carved a relief composition with an Asomtavruli inscription: "Christ, glorify in both lives — here in the flesh and before Thee in the spirit — Rati the eristavi, son of Liparit the eristavi, who built this house of God and gate of heaven, this holy church, for the salvation of their souls." It seems that in the 10th century Rati the eristavi renewed this "house of God" and declared himself its builder. In the same century the drum of the dome was faced with greenish tuff and an inscription carved on it.
