Church Church

The St. Mary's church of Petviskhevi dates to the 9th–10th centuries, though some details are later: the wall paintings are of the 12th–13th centuries and the chancel screen of the 15th–16th. The Asomtavruli inscription on the architrave of the chancel screen mentions Zakaria Panaskerteli, showing that in the late feudal era the church and its surroundings were the domain of that feudal family.
