The Church of the Mother of God of Pudznari is the oldest domed building in Mtianeti — all the more remarkable because domed churches are a rarity in Georgia's eastern highlands. Below the windows, on three sandstone slabs, is a slightly damaged Asomtavruli inscription: "In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (a word illegible here), I, the great lady Khatuna, daughter of Shn Tsoveli, built (two or three words illegible) of the Holy Mother of God, for the intercession of our souls, of our children and of our children to come (words illegible again) this church (final word missing)"
