Church Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Dusheti district

Church Church

The church is a hall church (5.5 × 3.9 m) built of cobblestone and brick. It is badly damaged: the south wall, much of the west wall and the southern side of the vault are destroyed. The entrance is from the west; the door is arched outside and flat-headed within. On the east, on the axis of the semicircular apse, is a small arched window worked in brick. The apse arch, laid entirely in brick, rests on single-stepped cobblestone pilasters. Of the window cut in the church's west wall only one jamb and part of the flat stone head survive. In the 1940s, when the church was put to other uses, the apse floor was raised by 1 m and a small circular tank was fitted in its middle. At the eastern end of the north wall of the square hall is a small rectangular niche.
