"Jvaris Mama" is the title of the abbot of the Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem. A domed brick church in Tbilisi is known by the same name. A church stood on this spot as early as the 5th century. That old church, according to P. Ioseliani, was destroyed by Timur at the end of the 14th century. The present building dates to the 16th century
