Information about this village, as about Tusheti as a whole, is found in the notes of Sergi Makalatia and Giorgi Bochoridze. Sergi Makalatia relates an interesting story about the Nachaurudze tower of Dartlo: "The Lezgins were particular enemies of this tower of Dartlo. According to folk tradition, they captured this strong tower and fortified themselves in it. Tush scouts kept a constant watch on the tower. One night they noticed a Lezgin standing sentry by a window, puffing on his pipe in the darkness. A Tush marksman took aim at the pipe and pierced the Lezgin, standing on the sixth story, with a bullet. Soon a band of Tushs arrived, took the tower, and the defeated Lezgins fled."
